This continuing education program will provide the learner with the essential knowledge required to understand wound healing. Wound etiology and assessment information will provided a basic understanding of how wound management principles and practice, including negative pressure wound therapy, promote wound healing.
Objectives:

Introduce the learner to basic wound anatomy and physiology including the definition of a wound, an explanation of how wounds are classified and an overview of wound healing.

Provide the learner with descriptions of key wound assessment parameters.

Instruct the learner on the science of NPWT by providing the learner with an understanding of the current experimental and clinical evidence-base which demonstrates how this treatment effects wound healing.

Introduce the learner to the different types of acute and chronic wounds and their etiology. Once there is a basic understanding of wound etiology the learner will better understand how the principles of wound management effect and contribute to wound healing.
