This session will focus on the role of breastfeeding confidence as an important modifiable variable that health professionals can target when developing interventions to increase breastfeeding duration and exclusivity outcomes. To conceptualize breastfeeding confidence the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Theory was developed and the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale was created to measure a mother’s confidence in her ability to breastfeed her infant. Both the theory and scale will be reviewed in this webinar and clinical implications will be outlined.
