All Things in IP: Infection Prevention topics in maternal and neonatal care
This presentation is a comprehensive research-based overview of the value of human milk and lactation for infants and their mothers. After reviewing many of the health benefits of lactation, we will relate critical nutritional, anti-infective and immune modulating components of breastmilk to their synergistic, multi-functional actions and related physiologic outcomes. Extending beyond major health aspects of breastmilk feeding, this presentation also touches on economic and environmental implications of infant feeding choices. From all perspectives, the science of human milk is dynamic, compelling and clear that human milk is tailor-made for human infants.
