After the Loss of an Infant: Suppression of Breast Milk Supply

With an infant's demise the missing piece in bereavement care, is suppression of breast milk supply.  The mother who is lactating requires special attention.  If production is not weaned, this could lead to issues for her.  Caregivers should provide the education and support for a successful  weaning process.  If the mother chooses to donate her breastmilk, this information will be available.

Safe lactation suppression strategies will be provided by caregivers

Mothers will receive information on support services

Donation information will be made available
